10 New NITS to be opened by next five years

Union cabinet of Government of India has today announced that it has approved plans for setting up 10 new National Institutes of Technology( NITs ) in states like Megahalaya , Manipur ,Mizoram , Arunachal Pradesh ,Sikkim , Nagaland ,Goa , Delhi , Uttarakhand , Pondicherry. It seems that focus hhas been on the backward states of North East .
NIT are rated second to IITS . They are considered one of the best engineering institutes of the country . Its Jointly managed by state and centre with states and centre taking entrance exams for these institutes . NITs are now deemed to as Institutes of National Importance and are now covers under NIT Act -2007 .Earlier they were called REC ( Regional engineering Colleges )

IIM Shillong to offer Sport management courses

IIM Shillong has started six month certificate course in sports management .It would equip students with information to manage sport event s , Media rights , ads , endorsement , equipment and sports facility and working of associations . With advent of IPL for 20-20 cricket matches and Next year Common wealth games there would be ample opportunities for students in sports management . The Course would have 30 seats .

Foreign Varisities eager to Open Colleges in India

50 foreign varsities are interested to open colleges and institutes in India . HRD ministry are examining the proposals .These includes mostly universities are from US ,UK and Australia .
One of them is Duke University . Foreign Education providers bill would be taken by cabinet today .
